Hip pain: what does it mean?

  • Genetic predisposition   : some families are more affected.
  • Overweight   : Every extra kilo increases the load on the joints.
  • Repetitive physical occupations or sports   : Heavy work or repetitive movements promote wear and tear.
  • History of injuries   (fractures, dislocations) or   joint diseases   such as polyarthritis.

Signs that should alert you

  • Morning stiffness that improves with movement.
  • Hip pain when walking, climbing stairs, or standing up.
  • Difficulty putting on shoes and bending over.
  • Sensation of rubbing or popping in the joint.
  • Pain referred to the groin, thigh, or knee.
  • Muscle fatigue, balance problems, night pain   or   a feeling of heat in the hip  .
